My Story

I have always loved a good story. Whether it was a fantastic movie, thrilling book, or hilarious television episode, stories have inspired me to understand characters and write my own. Because of the unique, artful, and powerful influence of storytelling, I want to pursue a career that affords me the chance to write and share my ideas with the world.

Even though I was born in Texas, I'm a true Southern California girl, having been raised in pretty much every city in Los Angeles County. Throughout my schooling, I would often be found with my nose glued to a good book. As I read everything from romantic Shakespearean sonnets to thrilling fantasy adventures, I developed a love for writing immersive, thought-provoking, and engaging stories. I wrote my first book when I was in fourth grade: Buddy Goes Surfing. It was even published in a few libraries across the country. This little story about a dog learning to surf instilled in me the drive to write. And so, in high school, I decided to test my hand at writing longer, character-oriented narratives on the free publishing platform, Wattpad. After publishing some of my books online and gaining a steady fanbase and recognition from other published authors, I was inspired to pursue an English major at the University of Iowa.

Once in college, I enrolled in honors English courses that further bolstered my love for storytelling. Collaborating with fellow creatives in workshopping classes, where writing engaging, character-driven stories was the focus, inspired me to add Creative Writing to my major. I even decided to pursue a publishing track after participating in a few magazine publications on campus. With my professors’ encouragement, I decided to pursue publishing as my profession.

Now, having experience in writing novels, playwriting, screenwriting, and magazine writing, I'm excited to begin my new writing career in the book publishing industry and happily look forward to every new project on the horizon.
